Dysautonomia

dysautonomia

Care That Matters.

Dysautonomia is a dysfunction of the nerves that regulate nonvoluntary body functions, such as heart rate, blood pressure, and sweating. Symptoms include fatigue, dizziness, palpitation, shortness of breath, and concentration problems.

This is a syndrome that affects mainly females in a 5:1 female-to-male ratio, usually between the ages of 12 and 45, and the majority of these are teens to early 20s. The first diagnosis usually made is of anxiety attacks. And teenagers, no matter the sex, are just beginning to form a concept of who they are.
So they begin having “attacks.” Many times, the first symptom they have that brings them to medical attention is passing out.
